At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Great Britain emerged as the dominant force in cycling with an incredible haul of 14 medals, eight of which were gold. As the likes of Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins became household names, team director David Brailsford set his sights on achieving even more.
In 2010, Brailsford took charge of professional road outfit Team Sky with one aim in mind: to couple further Olympic success at London 2012 with a first-ever British victory in the Tour de France.
British Cycling: Road to Glory offers a unique behind-the-scenes insight into the extraordinary physical and psychological demands that are placed on the riders charged with making sporting history.
The programme was commissioned by Celia Taylor, Head of Factual, Sky, and is executive produced by Andrew Mackenzie and Bridget Sneyd at Twofour, and Clare Handford at Sky.
