The Real Marigold Hotel wins Rose d’Or


Twofour’s The Real Marigold Hotel has won the Rose d’Or Award for Reality and Factual Entertainment.

The BBC Two hit follows Miriam Margolyes OBE, chef Rosemary Shrager, dancer Wayne Sleep OBE, darts champion Bobby George, singer Patti Boulaye OBE, former newsreader Jan Leeming, actor Sylvester McCoy and comedian Roy Walker as they embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to India. It peaked with 4.5 million viewers earlier this year and was dubbed a “novel twist” on the reality TV format (The Independent on Sunday).

The awards, operated by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), were announced last night in Berlin. Over 400 programmes were submitted by broadcasters and production companies in 33 different countries.
